On the Chassis 400 opti myst 2kw fire , is there anything behind the top front plate.The whole unit is too high for my grate at 700mm. If I can cut the top down by 100mm, it will fit. Is that possible?

Yes, this is where the heating element (fan heater) is housed, I'm afraid the height of this electric fire cannot be reduced.
