Can I place this fire in a free standing position. I have no chimney so require twin flue and wonder if this fire would be suitable.

Yes, the Portway Arundel can be freestanding in your room and requires a hearth that is a minimum of 12mm depth. As you've said you can run a twin wall system from the fire if you do not have a working chimney.
