The 6" internal flue diameter H Cowl suitable for twin wall flue systems is the ultimate static anti downdraught chimney cowl. The H Cowl isolates combustion gases from the prevailing winds enabling them to leave the flue without downdraught.

Hi, thanks for your enquiry. A "H cowl" should be positioned so that the horizontal bar of the "H" should be perpendicular to the wind flow. There is no specific direction that is "best", as the H cowl is designed to work in any wind direction.
