Frequently Asked Questions
How do you connect a stove pipe to a wood burner?A wood stove flue pipe is sealed on a stove by using fire cement. Insert the narrow end of the pipe into the flue collar on the stove and apply fire cement into the gap around the collar. If there is a larger gap between the pipe and the collar, heat-resistant rope can be used as well as fire cement.
What length of stove pipe is required before I can use a bend?It is recommended to have a minimum of 600mm of straight flue from the top of the stove before using a bend. The angle of the bend should be no greater than 45° from the vertical, with the exception that 90° factory made bends or tees may be treated as being equal to two 45° bends.
Can I use stove pipe outside?Single-wall or vitreous enamel flue pipe is not recommended to be used outside or when passing through a combustible or non-combustible wall or ceiling. If you need an external flue, you will need to purchase an adaptor which will connect to a twin wall flue system.
