Media walls for modern interiors
Winter 2024/25 looks set to be the season of media walls, with a huge increase in interest online. The search term “media wall” has been identified as a breakout topic on Google Trends, meaning searches for the term have surged by a whopping 5000% or more over the past year. There has also been a significant rise in searches for the term “media wall kit”, with a 160% increase.
If you have modern interiors, this high-tech media wall trend is a perfect fit for your home, as these styles often favour clean lines and integrate technology. The trend is also ideal for minimalist homes, as the sleek and simple set-up is clutter-free, usually featuring inset electric fireplaces and designed to hide any messy wires and cables.
Media walls are often paired with electric fireplaces, with searches for “fireplace TV unit” and “fireplace media wall” increasing by 80% and 50% respectively, according to Google Trends data. However, data shows that there is an increasing interest in other forms of media wall heating solutions, with the searches for the term “media wall with log burner” increasing by 50%. Combining the sleek modernity of a media wall with the rustic charm of a stove is the perfect way to balance old and new in your home, and can make for a unique and eye-catching focal point.
Another benefit of media walls is that there are so many ways you can make it your own. Searches for “media wall ideas” have increased by 80% over the past year, showing that there are a variety of different ways to incorporate the trend in your own home.
Colourful stoves
Looking for a fun and practical way to brighten up your interiors? Combine colour and cosiness with a colourful stove. These are set to be all the rage this winter, which is no surprise to us as we’ve found them to be particularly popular when attending trade shows. This micro trend complements the wider dopamine design movement, which is all about using bright colours to create a happy and joyful space. This is an up-and-coming trend, with “dopamine decor” and “dopamine design” both becoming breakouts on Google Trends.
Another key element of dopamine decor is using vibrant patterns to add a touch of character to a space. You can do this with fireplace tile stickers, which have also risen in popularity according to Google Trends. Searches for “fireplace tile stickers” have increased by 150%, showing that more of us are looking for ways to add a touch of fun and whimsy to our interiors.
Fireplaces with earthy tones
If bright and bold colours aren’t to your taste, an alternative interior trend you may prefer is earth tones. Earthy hues have been a staple of the fashion world this year, and look set to dominate the world of interiors this winter and beyond too. Earth tones have been identified as a breakout topic on Google Trends, plus searches for “earth tones living room” have risen by 120%.
This trend lends itself perfectly to heating solutions. Not only does the warm glow of firelight complement various earthy shades, like rust, dark amber, burnt orange, and muted yellow tones, but many fireplaces and stoves are available in these earthy hues. Here at StovesAreUs, we offer indoor heating options in a variety of earth tones, including walnut, oak, and sage green shades.
Functional outdoor spaces
It isn’t just the inside of our homes which is set to get cosier, as more and more of us are looking for outdoor heating options to help us enjoy our gardens and yards year-round. And this trend looks like it’s here to stay too, with predictions that the global outdoor heating market will grow from $1.33 billion (as of 2024) to $2.15 billion by 2032 (Fortune Business Insights). This increasing interest in outdoor heating is no doubt fueled by the rising desire to create outdoor entertaining spaces, which are getting more attention from 45% of the architects, designers, and builders asked in a New Home Trends Institute survey.
There are many forms of outdoor heating which have seen an increase in interest over the past year, with searches for “firepit” rising by 180% according to Google Trends data. There has also been an increase in interest in outdoor table heating solutions, with searches for “large fire pit table” rising by 60%.
There are so many different forms of outdoor heating solutions available, so you’re sure to find one to blend in seamlessly with your garden. Outdoor firepits and chimeneas are a great choice for more rustic-style gardens, while patio heaters are ideal for modern outdoor spaces. If you’re looking for the perfect balance of rustic and contemporary, outdoor fireplaces can be a great blend of the two styles.
Experimenting with shapes
While the shape of your heating solution may not be the first thing that comes to mind when choosing one for your home, it can have a significant impact on the overall look of your space. And in recent years there has been an increase in more unique and exciting shapes on the market. One trend currently rising in popularity is circular stoves and fireplaces, with searches for “round electric fire” increasing by 140%, according to Google Trends data. These truly unique and futuristic-looking stoves and fireplaces are sure to make a great focal point for any home and will work particularly well when used to complement curved furniture, which has also been popular in 2024.
This isn’t the only less common shape which is set to dominate this winter, as we predict long fires to become a staple this season too. Searches for “long electric fire” are up by 120%, while searches for “long electric fireplace” are up 250%. These eye-catching types of fire are often used with media walls, but can also be beautiful as stand-alone fireplaces.
Cosy rustic interiors
Winter is the perfect time to get cosy with some rustic-inspired aesthetics, and we expect this style to be all the rage this season and beyond. Searches for classic rustic styles, such as “country interiors”, “cottage core living room”, and “farmhouse style furniture” have all increased in recent months, showing a desire for more warm and cosy interiors.
One surprising search term that has risen in popularity is “Nancy Meyers aesthetic”, which has increased by 800%. This interior style is all about warm and cosy interiors which have a lived-in feel and personal touches — think Iris’s idyllic countryside cottage in The Holiday.
Whichever cosy rustic home decor style appeals to you most, one feature that is a staple of all these interiors is a toasty fireplace or stove. Wood-burning stoves in particular lend themselves perfectly to these trends, adding cosiness and warmth to a space while offering timeless rustic charm, especially when paired with a natural wooden stove beam. We can see that this form of heating solution is particularly popular at the moment, with “wooden stove” being identified as a breakout search term on Google Trends.
Luxe Decor
Looking to add a touch of luxury to your home? If so, the luxe decor interior trend is the perfect choice for you. This home decor style is soaring in popularity at the minute, with both “luxury interiors” and “luxe home decor” being breakout search terms on Google Trends.
This decor style is all about elegance, style, and sophistication, using the finest materials to enhance a space. There are many different interpretations of this trend, from natural luxe, which combines the elegance and sophistication of luxury interiors with natural, earthy tones, to quiet luxury, which is a more subtle take on luxe decor. Quiet luxury is a particularly popular interior style at the minute and is currently a breakout topic on Google Trends.
Elegant fireplaces are perfect for complementing the luxe decor trend. Marble fireplaces in particular are a fantastic option, as the material is high-end and naturally elegant. White and cream marble fireplaces also work well with both quiet luxury and more traditional luxe decor styles.
Sustainable heating solutions
Over the past few years, more and more people have been looking for ways to make their everyday lives sustainable. In fact, a 2024 YouGov survey found that a fifth of Brits are willing to spend more on sustainable products. This translates to our heating habits, too, as many of us are looking at how we can heat our homes in more sustainable ways.
One more sustainable heating solution rising in popularity is the biomass stove. Also known as pellet stoves, these are considered a more sustainable form of heating than wood burners as they tend to produce less harmful emissions, plus they use a renewable fuel source. There has been more interest in these types of stoves in recent months, with searches for the terms “bioethanol stove uk” and “bio fuel log burner” increasing by 350% and 250% respectively.
Another more eco-friendly heating option proving popular at the moment is electric heating. In fact, electric heating as a topic has increased in popularity by 130%, according to Google Trends data. Electric stoves in particular seem to be more in demand right now, with searches for “real looking electric log burners” up by 170%, plus increases in searches for “electric log burner” and “faux log burner”. This shows that many of us still want to enjoy the rustic charm of a wood-burning stove but in a more sustainable way.
Whether you love minimalist and modern interiors or prefer a touch of classic rustic charm, there is a home heating trend to suit your decor style this winter. From bright and bold hues to earthy tones, contemporary to traditional, you’re sure to find a home heating trend to blend in seamlessly with your interiors.
